Coming Soon: British Horror Short, "VR".
Made by Portsmouth based film maker Rob Ulitski, VR tells the story about a new VR style headset that promises the wearer an escape from their everyday life. But unfortunately, with the "escape" also comes a Japanese legend that haunts the wearer!
Inspired by early 00’s J-Horror, such as Dark Water and The Ring, the legend of Kuchisake-Onna has been given a fresh perspective in “VR”. Themes of technology and loss also echo throughout the film, paying homage to the fear of technology that these films explored on their release.
The crew paid special attention to the colour palettes and grade at the end of the film. The main story location has a muted, green-tinged palette, with the character wearing dull, basic clothes. The VR footage, however, has bright, vivid colours, and creates a great contrast to the ‘real-life’ scenes.
